Big Pencil Process Shots

From start to finish....while digging rain gardens between drying sessions.

Inking is really drawing it a second time. Sometimes i change my mind as I go with the pen. Somehow Prince makes an appearance.

Starting with the bright colors first and making decisions about the protected white areas.

Then starting the background to keep them in balance. I am keeping them separate from the pencil Moreno this go than the first large pencil just to see the difference.

I paint until I regret the last three or 4 or 5 moves or they don’t add anything new or compelling  

4’ long is hard to get a good shot of so here are a few details.

Tons of splashing clear water and colors for texture and to encourage the magic watercolor does on its own

Ironing board for storage. Brought it in to work today to scan before dropping off at the framers. 

 

I plan to submit this to a few shows. We will see how it goes!
